Lithium-ion stocks outperformed the rest of a mixed AE field as oil continued its slide and the Dow responded with another strong day closing up 1.2%. Oil prices dropped again closing down another 2.74% to $128.37.
LITHIUM-ION STOCKS
Advancers trounced decliners 11 to 3 as investors continued falling back in love, or at least like with the automakers.
Amongst the majors, General Motors (NYSE: GM) led all gainers again today closing up another 9.4% at $14.32. An amazing recovery considering on July 14th GM closed at $9.38. Ford Motors (NYSE: F) followed ending the day up 6.57% at $5.84.
However, Electric Moto (Pink Sheets: EMOT) topped all gainers closing up 175% at $.0275 following their announcement that they were entering the European markets with their electric motorcycles.*
Superlattice Power (OTCBB: SLAT) closed up 7.58% at $2.13 on news followed by
Ener1 Inc (AMEX: HEV) and Altair Nanotech (Nasdaq: ALTI) both closed up 7.21% at $6.39 and $2.38 respectively.
FUEL CELL STOCKS
Fuel Cell continued to show strength too as the sector’s stocks charged ahead again today as advancers zapped decliners 8 to 4.
Mechanical Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MKTY) astonished the market closing up 63.33% at $4.90. With daily volume more than 10 times the average, one can surmise something is up so this is one we suggest you put on your watch list for the open tomorrow, especially since the stock is down in after-market trading.
Pacific Fuel Cell (OTCBB: PFCE) gained 28.57% to close at $.04, an awesome day but for the comparison to MKTY.
The big fuel cell loser for the day was Hydrogenics Corp (Nasdaq: HYGS) which ended the day down 9.09% at $1.50.
SOLAR ENERGY STOCKS
Solar Energy stocks struggled throughout the day and finished the session with decliners outpacing advancers by 11 to 7.
Tops among the winners were DayStar Technologies (Nasdaq: DSTI) which added 9.68% to the value of a share at $3.40. DayStar announced it was scheduling its earnings call for August 6th. Interested parties are invited to listen in.
China Solar & Clean Energy (OTCBB: CSOL) was another top winner in the solar sector closing up 7.14% at $1.50.
Canadian Solar (Nasdaq: CSIQ) led the stocks on the down side following the publication of an updated bashing by Cramer, a popular and controversial TV stock commentator. CSIQ ended the day down 13.13% at $.27.78.
Interestingly, First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR), a Cramer tout also closed down, ending the session down 5.24% at $266.45.
WIND ENERGY STOCKS
Wind energy stocks caught turbulence and ended in the red with decliners beating advancers 9 to 6.
Top performer on the upside was JUHL Wind (OTCBB: JUHL) which closed up 8/82% at $3.70.
Americas Wind Energy (OTCBB: AWNE) also regained some strength finishing up 3.33% and back at at $.31.
Composite Tech Corp led the decliners closing down 4.72% at $1.21 followed by NORDEX AG (Pink Sheets: NRDXF) which was down 4.1% at $31.60.
Another noteworthy development, Nacel Energy Corp (OTCBB: NCENE) had the ominous “E”appended to its stock for failing to file its Form 10KSB in a timely fashion. An ongoing SEC inquiry into activities relating to the company has delayed the filing until this is resolved, according to the company. Shareholders should note that the “E” is a formal notification that the stock will be delisted from the Bulletin Board in 30 days if the matter is not resolved so mark your calendars. The stock closed down .62% at $1.60.
And, as if that weren’t enough, after the close of the market today, the company filed yet another 8K that adds texture to the company’s troubles… moving this from just an investment and disclosure situation to a veritable soap opera. NUCLEAR ENERGY STOCKS
The nuclear energy sector had yet another down day as decliners led advancers in the dust by 8 to 5.

On the upside Urex Energy Corp (OTCBB: URXE) continued to climb closing up 7.75% at $.0765. Apparently the 10K filed last Tuesday and appearing on Yahoo today contained more good than bad. Of course, we haven’t read it so this is pure speculation.
Thorium Power (OTCBB: THPW) was also able to do more than hold it’s own closing up 3.52% at $.235.
On the down side, Wave Uranium (OTCBB: WAVU) closed down 8.7% at $.021. The Company issued an after market press release today regarding a data acquisition. The reaction, if any, will be seen at tomorrow’s open.
GEOTHERMAL STOCKS
Geothermal stocks showed real heat today with advancers crushing decliners 7 to 3.
Essential Innovation (OTCBB: ESIV) was the standout winner closing up 25% at $.025. on increased volume.
Raser Technologies (NYSE/Arca: RZ) also had a good day closing up 8.43% at $11.70.
Decliners were led by Sierra Geothermal Power Corp (CDNX: SRA.V) which ended today’s session down 8.96% at $.355.
Western Geopower Corp was also gave back previous gains closing down 3.03% at $.31.
BIOFUEL STOCKS
The Biofuel sector was a race to the finish with decliners taking it by a nose 7 to 6 over advancers
W2 Energy (Pink Sheets: WTWO) led advancers closing up 6% at $.053 with Raven Biofuels International (OTCBB: RVBF) close behind up 4.08% at $.51.
Greenshift Corporation (OTCBB: GERS) led the decliners closing down 18.46% at $.053 while US Sustainable Energy (Pink Sheets: USEE) was off 13.33% to close at $.013
